The Drake PTO works hand in hand with parent volunteers to support our students, teachers, and staff. We provide funding and volunteers that fuel community-building, show appreciation, enrich learning, foster connections, and create both foundational and unique educational opportunities. Open PTO Leadership and Coordinator Roles for 2026/27
A huge thank you to every parent who has fueled our Drake community this year! Your support makes Drake a special place for our teachers, staff and students. The future of the PTO is in your hands! To ensure our favorite traditions and funding continue into next year, we must fill PTO Leadership and Coordinator roles by May 1st. Without these key roles, many of our beloved programs are at risk of ending.Â
Every role can be a "Co-Role"! Grab a friend and lead together - it’s twice the fun and half the work. Whether you have a lot of time or just a little, we’d love to find a spot for you.

PTO Leadership Roles
📍 President - Helps guide the PTO’s work and keeps everything moving forward. Leads meetings, works with school administration, and helps coordinate communication with Drake families.
📍 Vice President(s) - Support the President and help lead key PTO initiatives. Each Vice President oversees an area such as fundraising, hospitality, membership, etc.
📍 Secretary - Keeps the PTO organized by drafting meeting agendas and recording meeting notes and ensures information is shared clearly with the PTO community.
📍 Treasurer - Manages the PTO’s finances, including collecting funds, paying expenses, and providing simple monthly updates to the board. No accounting background is required.
Program & Event Roles
📍 Communications Coordinator - Creates weekly PTO newsletter to keep Drake families informed about events and updates. Works with the Social Media Coordinator to share PTO news with the community.
📍 Spirit Wear Coordinator - Coordinates Drake’s spirit wear store and helps promote sales so students and families can show their Drake Dragon pride.
📍 FroYo Coordinator(s) - Team organizes Drake’s popular FroYo Days by coordinating orders, volunteers, and classroom delivery.
PTO Leadership: Your Questions Answered
We know these roles might sound like a big committment, but at its heart, the PTO is a group of parents looking out for our kids. Here’s the lowdown:
"I work full-time. Can I still help?"
Absolutely. Most of our current board members work! Many tasks (like emails, the newsletter, planning for FroYo, budget tracking, etc.) can be done from your laptop in the evening. For on-site events like FroYo, we coordinate shifts to fit different schedules.
"Do I have to do this alone?"
Not at all! We highly encourage Co-Roles. Grab a friend and sign up as "Co-Presidents" or "Co-Treasurers." It splits the work in half and makes the meetings more fun.
"What’s the actual time commitment?"
It varies by role, but most positions only require 2–6 hours a month. Some roles are "seasonal" (like Spirit Wear), meaning you're busier during back-to-school month and then mostly off the hook!
"I’ve never done this before. Will I be lost?"
Nope. We are committed to a "Shadow & Support" transition. Current board members will walk you through the ropes, share all our templates, and pass off detailed transition documents so you aren't reinventing the wheel.
"What happens if these roles aren't filled by May 1st?"
To put it simply: the programs stop. Without a Treasurer, we can’t process funds for teachers; without a President, we can't legally operate. We love our Drake traditions and really don't want to see them go!
"I’m interested, but want to learn more first..."
